Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Cannes Film Festival will not take place in 2020, a representative of the organizing committee told Variety.
The emergency regime due to the coronavirus epidemic in France was extended until at least 10 July.
Therefore, according to the interlocutor of the publication, holding a festival even in the fall will be extremely difficult. The organizers abandoned the idea of making Cannes virtual right away.
At the same time, films selected for the competition will be shown at other festivals, including in Venice. The list of films will be announced in early June.
The 73rd film festival was to be held on the Cote d’Azur in France from 12 to 23 May. In March, the organizing committee announced a new date - the end of June, noting that this is a preliminary decision.
