Tashkent has been a loyal host of the Festival with Uzbekistan Football Federation officials urging participants to take advantage of this opportunity to boost their football knowledge.
“This will be two weeks of exciting learning, exchanging of knowledge and sharing of experiences in Tashkent,” said UFF General Secretary Sardor Rakhmatullaev.
“I wish for all of you to make the most of this opportunity that AFC has given you self education, development and to further promote yourselves as professionals.”
The Festival offers school children the chance to compete against each other in an atmosphere that encourages friendship and cultural exchange. It also provides young coaches and referees a chance to expand their knowledge and skills through the Project Future programme.
John Whittle, AFC Director of Grassroots and Youth, said during the opening ceremony: “The AFC festivals are a vehicle for the development of football in many aspects, especially for you coaches and referees that wish to make this a career for yourselves.
“Football needs personalities. We want you to express your potential, exchange knowledge, experiences & cultures.”
