Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Official BYD dealers have announced that they will not provide warranty service for vehicles purchased through gray import channels. This statement was made by BYD, the Chinese automaker.
The company emphasized that there is currently only one official distributor of BYD vehicles in Uzbekistan — BYD Central Asia. The country has 18 official BYD showrooms and service centers.
In the past year, since BYD’s entry into the Uzbek market, the company has implemented a multimedia system supporting Russian and Uzbek languages, equipped with a 4G cloud service, introduced voice control in Russian, and developed a mobile app for remote vehicle management. These innovations have significantly improved the experience for local users.
Moreover, BYD stated that cars sold through official dealers are adapted for local operating conditions. For instance, vehicles are equipped with upgraded air conditioning systems with enhanced compressor capacity to ensure effective cooling even during high summer temperatures. The DM-i super hybrid technology has also been adapted to local fuel quality, further enhancing energy efficiency and vehicle stability.
This highlights that vehicles purchased from official dealers fully comply with local operating conditions and are expected to be more durable and reliable than those imported through gray channels by private individuals or unauthorized companies.
Additionally, all BYD vehicles bought from official dealers come with a factory warranty in accordance with the brand’s industrial standards: a standard warranty of 6 years or 150,000 kilometers, and 8 years for the battery, electric motor, and electronic control module. Gray importers cannot offer such terms.
BYD pointed out that due to the significant number of vehicles imported into Uzbekistan through gray channels and the considerable technical differences from those sold through official channels, the company does not support gray imports, which do not guarantee official support or warranty service. In the event of problems with vehicles imported through unofficial channels, the risks will fall on the buyers.
Multi-brand dealers have been advised to refrain from selling vehicles imported unofficially, as such vehicles lack official warranties and have not undergone the necessary certification.
Finally, the company strongly recommended that customers carefully choose their importer and prefer official dealers who provide complete support from BYD, including official warranties and local advantages.
