Business Activity Index in service sphere shows small growth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Center on improvement of antimonopoly policy under the State Demonopolization Committee prepared Business Activity Index for December 2009 – APIC 50.

Business Activity Index is prepared on the result of survey of 50 large and medium organizations of industry and service sector, representing fast growing directions of economy and sensible to changes in global and local markets.

Business Activity Index developed on PMI methodology. If PMI index is higher than 50, the business activity growth is observed, otherwise - recession.

Business Activity Index in industry sector for December comprised 57.9 points, which is lower by 2.8 compared to November index. In November, index made up 60.7. Such industries as machinery and energy displayed insignificant growth compared to other industries. Decrease of the growth is observed in construction industry, which is normal if to take into account seasonality of the sector. Expected Business Activity Index in industry sector is relatively positive and made up 57.6 points.

In service sector, the growth is observed (+1.8) and it made up 61 in December, while it made up 59.2 points. Among the spheres, which displayed growth in December, are insurance, trade, finance sector and mobile communication. The activity of consulting firms decreased as at the end of the year there is low demand for the service. Expected Business Activity Index in service sector comprised 65.2 points, which is higher than in industry sector.

Final results of Business Activity Index are fully based on answers of the respondents. The Center receives answers directly from responders. The selection of the companies is regular.
