Bunyodkor, Pohang Steelers share spoils
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Substitute Kamoliddin Murzoev netted with the last kick of the game as Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor snatched 2-2 draw with former AFC Champions League winners Pohang Steelers on Wednesday.

Oleksandr Pyshur’s second goal of the campaign had set Bunyodkor on their way at JAR Stadium as last year’s semi-finalists dominated the first half of the Group G contest.

Pohang, though, responded in the second half with a pair of quickfire goals from Lee Myung-joo and Lee Gwang-hun only for Murzoev to stab home in the third minute of stoppage time to leave Bunyodkor two points clear of the 2007 champions at the top of the table alongside China’s Beijing Guoan.

After beginning their campaign with an impressive 2-0 win over J.League champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima two weeks ago, Bunyodkor almost opened the scoring after 10 minutes as Jasur Khasanov’s right wing corner appeared to be creeping in at the near post until Pohang goalkeeper Kim Da-sol clawed the ball to safety.

But Kim Da-sol was helpless to stop the home side taking the lead five minutes later as in-form Ukrainian striker Pyshur muscled his way into the Pohang area to fire the home side ahead after coolly skipping past a covering defender on the edge of the six yard area.

And with Pohang struggling to find a foothold in the game, Pyshur - who also scored three goals in two games as Bunyodkor began the new Uzbek League campaign with back-to-back wins - and Lutfulla Turaev both went close before the break. But Bunyodkor were unable to maintain their dominance in the second half and Pohang equalised on the hour mark as Lee Gwang-hun’s cross was headed down Kim Dae-ho and Lee Myung-joo stabbed home from close range.

And the Korean FA Cup winners completed the comeback eight minutes later as further poor defending from Bunyodkor allowed Lee Gwang-hun time and space to head home No Byung-jun’s cross.

Bunyodkor were handed a chance to equalise in unusual circumstances with 12 minutes remaining as the home side were awarded an in-direct free-kick inside the penalty area following a high foot by Jung Hong-youn as he challenged Pyshur only for the Ukrainian to eventually fire wide from the resulting set-piece.

But with seconds remaining the home side maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign as Murzoev diverted Khasanov’s drilled angled shot from the left side of the area into the bottom corner from the edge of the six yard area with Pohang goalkeeper Kim Da-sol given no time to react.
