Bunyodkor are now on 78 points, seven more than defending champions Pakhtakor after 28 rounds in the 16-team standings.

Server Djeparov, who has been nominated for the AFC Player of the Year 2008 award, opened the scoring for Brazilian Zico’s side in the 35th minute and his teammate in the national team Anvar Soliev doubled the lead in the 53rd minute.

Pakhtakor defeated Dynamo 3-1 while third-placed Neftchi were held by bottom-placed UzDongJu 1-1.

This was the second silverware for Bunyodkor this season after they won the Uzbekistan Cup beating Pakhtakor 3-1 last month.
