Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The agreement between the US and Taliban envisages a "complete withdrawal" of all foreign troops from Afghanistan by the end of April next year, provided that the Taliban adhere to their obligations. 

NATO does not have much time left to make a decision on the withdrawal of international forces from Afghanistan, since actions of this magnitude usually take 6 months. In this regard, experts warn that NATO member states must make a decision on the withdrawal of troops in November this year, in extreme cases - no later than December of this year, reported by Tagesschau (Germany)

The operational command of the military forces of Germany stated that "if the decision on the withdrawal of international forces is taken at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in December this year, the Bundeswehr will be ready to redeploy." But the presence of the Bundeswehr in Afghanistan depends not only on NATO decisions, but also on the United States. If Washington no longer provides medical assistance or air support for military operations, the continuation of the German mission will become impossible.

In the conditions when the US military began to leave Afghanistan, Berlin has already begun preparations for the withdrawal of its contingent, as evidenced by the presence of about 100 logistics experts from the Bundeswehr in Afghanistan. At the moment, there is no official confirmation of the beginning of the process of withdrawing German troops from Afghanistan.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, currently there are 1200 German soldiers in Afghanistan, 970 of them are stationed in the camp in Mazar-i-Sharif. The German military command has extensive experience in redeploying forces and military equipment. The Bundeswehr had already withdrawn military units from Kunduz in 2013, closed the military camp in Faizabad (Badakhshan province), returned a lot of military equipment with the end of the mission of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in 2014.

But the withdrawal of international forces, incl. the German contingent at a time when peace negotiations between Afghanistan government and Taliban are ongoing, is an extremely delicate issue. There is no doubt that the Afghan government cannot survive without military and financial assistance from the West. In this regard, according to reports, the Bundeswehr is still preparing for all possible scenarios for further actions, incl. to a possible continuation of NATO’s Resolute Support mission.

In any case, it is necessary to prevent Afghanistan from sinking again into chaos and the emergence of a new round of civil war.
