Bukhara Airport receives international award
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Bukhara International Airport became the winner in nomination “The best airport in the CIS states” with the capacity of over 100,000 passengers a year in the result of competition of the “Airport” Civil Aviation Association.

During the competition, the organizers considered complex development of enterprise, including production activity, development of material-technical base, introduction of new technologies, business activity, etc.

This prestigious award of civil aviation, annually awarded to the best airports in the CIS area and Bukhara International Airport receives it for the fourth time.

Bukhara International Airport received international status and large volume of work was done to improve its infrastructure. In particular, runway was reconstructed, new building of airport, which can serve 400 passengers in an hour has been launched.

New building of airport has VIP and CIP halls, mother and child room, medical point, currency exchange points, etc.

Currently, the airport serves regular and charter flights from countries of Europe, America and Asia. In 2011, the airport served 102,000 passengers (+7%). Number of flights increased by seven a week and now the figure reached to 27.

In the first quarter of 2012, the airport served 30,879 passengers, which rose by 7% year-on-year.
