Budget expenses to be optimized

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Members of the upper house of parliament during the fourth plenary session considered the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020”.

This Law was developed on the basis of the Decree of the President “On priority measures to mitigate the negative impact on the economy of the coronavirus pandemic and global crisis phenomena” and its resolution “On measures to ensure the stability of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan and timely financing of priority measures during the coronavirus pandemic”.

The adoption of the Law will ensure the stability of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan during the coronavirus pandemic and the global crisis, and optimize costs, taking into account priority areas.

In connection with the creation in accordance with the Decree of the Anti-Crisis Fund, amendments were made to the maximum budgetary allocations of the republic, Appendix No. 5 of the Law is set out in a new edition.

In addition, based on administrative changes made on the basis of Presidential decisions to the structure of some government bodies, as well as due to the fact that the law on the annual budget was introduced for the first time, and taking into account some circumstances encountered in practice, it became necessary to introduce other changes.

Based on the decision of the President, appropriate measures to reduce costs from the republican and local budgets were determined, the legal basis for the implementation of which is enshrined in the Law. In particular, transfers to local budgets are increasing in connection with the establishment of subsidies from local budgets for the payment of legal aid provided by lawyers, covering the cost of electricity consumed by farmers and non-state preschool educational organizations.

In order to ensure stability of the State budget during the coronavirus pandemic and the global crisis, the law optimizes budget expenditures and provides for their allocation to priority measures to mitigate the negative impact of the pandemic on economic sectors.

Senators approved the law.
