Brussels supports Tashkent’s course in the field of ensuring regional security

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The ISMI delegation continues to hold meetings with European partners in Brussels. In particular, on 12 July, negotiations were held between Akramjon Nematov, First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with Paul De Witt, Director General of the Royal Egmont Institute, and Thomas Niclasson, EU Special Representative for Afghanistan.

During the meetings, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of regional and global security, the current situation in the world. The European side highly appreciated the policy pursued by the leadership of Uzbekistan to consolidate the countries of Central Asia, as well as to increase prosperity and strengthen stability.

According to European colleagues, the Central Asian region, turning into a space of mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation, has significantly increased its resistance to internal and external challenges, creating the necessary prerequisites for progressive and dynamic development.

The sides paid special attention to the developing situation in Afghanistan. The importance of continuing joint work to promote the establishment of peace, as well as the social and economic development of the country, was emphasized.

At the end of the meetings, the parties expressed interest in expanding partnerships, agreed on cooperation between the analytical centers of Uzbekistan and Belgium, holding joint events in areas of mutual interest.
