Uzbekistan 18/07/2007 British Embassy announces changes to visa application procedure

The British Embassy in Tashkent has introduced certain changes to the visa application procedure. Thus, the applicants for visas to travel to the UK are now required to complete the visa application forms in English.

The application should be in typed print or hand written in a printed (capital letters) format. Also, starting 23 July any supporting documentation must be submitted with an appropriate translation in English.

The new rules of the procedure were announce on 17 July by the Press and Public Affairs Section of the British Embassy in Uzbekistan.

Following the re-instatement of full visa services at the British Embassy in Tashkent, there has been a consistent heavy demand for visas. This has thrown up significant challenges, not least of which was the improvement of the speed of applications processing.

The British Embassy stresses that failure to comply with the above requirements would lead to a delay in the processing of the application. Any document which is supplied without the required translation will not be considered by the Officer. This may mean that insufficient information is available for a visa to be issued. Consequently the application may be refused.

The Embassy explained that this change of policy on language would bring it in line with many other Western Embassies in the region and with the majority of British Embassies world-wide.
