Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the evening of 9 October, a bridge in Pskent (Tashkent region) collapsed while a heavy truck was crossing it. Part of the vehicle fell into a canal; fortunately, the driver was not injured.
The Road Committee commented on the incident, clarifying that the bridge was not designed for heavy truck traffic. The bridge structure had a load limit of 8 tons, as indicated by signs placed nearby.
However, the truck, which was carrying sand, weighed approximately 107 tons, significantly exceeding the allowable limits. The bridge’s supports failed under such weight, leading to the collapse.
The agency reminded the public of the importance of following traffic rules, particularly paying attention to signs and not exceeding weight limits.
