Sports 13/10/2008 Bopanna, Okun move into final round qualifying at US$125,000 Tashkent Challenger

Rohan Bopanna of India, Naom Okun of Isreal, Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhistan, Danila Arsenov of Russia the top four seeds made it to the final round of qualifying at the US$125,000 Tashkent Challenger, a ATP Challenger series event for being played at the Olympic Tennis School in Tashkent.

In the second round qualifying Bopanna accounted for Uzbek player Sardor Pulatov 6-4,6-2, Okun outplayed Sarvar Ikramov 6-2,6-1, Kedriouk defeated Germany’s Frank Moser 6-3, 6-2, while Arsenov stopped another Uzbek player Khristos Keysidi 6-2,6-1.

In a mini upset Michael Kohlmann of Germany upset fifth seed Denys Molchanov of Ukraine 6-3, 6-3 in a one sided encounter. Eighth seed Ryan Young of USA had to go through harrowing time before he overcame Purav Raja of India 6-4.7-6(7-2) in the toughest match of the day.
