Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A court in Tashkent region has sentenced a blogger who promised to beat his father and send him to a retirement home in exchange for likes, according to the press secretary of the region’s Department of Internal Affairs.
The incident occurred on 1 November in Chirchik district, where the local blogger filmed a video in which he insulted his father, promising that if the video received 100,000 likes, he would beat him, and if it reached 200,000 likes, he would send him to a retirement home.
After the video was published, law enforcement agencies contacted the blogger, held a preventive conversation with him, and he apologized, urging other bloggers to avoid creating such content.
The Chirchik City Court found the blogger guilty under Article 183 (petty hooliganism) of the Administrative Offenses Code and sentenced him to 15 days of administrative arrest.
Law enforcement authorities urged social media users and bloggers to remember that although freedom of expression is guaranteed in the country, laws must be respected. They emphasized that any violation, even committed online, will result in responsibility and punishment.
