Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The governor of Tashkent Region, Rustam Kurbonnazarovich Kholmatov, was born in Tashkent region’s Oqqorgon district in 1961. He is an ethnic Uzbek. He has higher education and graduated from the Tashkent Institute of National Economy. He is an economist by education.

He started his career as a worker on the Oqqorgon state farm in 1977.

Until 1995, he worked as an economist, a senior economist and the chief economist on the farm.

From 1995 to 2003, he worked as the first deputy governor of Oqqorgon district, the governor of Chinoz district, the first deputy governor of Tashkent region - the head of the agriculture and water resources department.

He has been the governor of Kuyichirchik district since 2003.

On 16 December 2008, he was appointed governor of Tashkent region.

He is a member of the Tashkent regional and Kuyichirchik district councils of the people’s deputies.
