Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2023, benefits in the amount of 60 trillion soums were provided for imported goods worth US$20 billion, noted President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasizing that existing opportunities at customs are not fully used.

At a meeting dedicated to the government’s priorities for economic development this year, it was noted that last year, benefits amounting to about 60 trillion soums were provided for imported goods worth US$20 billion.

However, the customs authorities do not analyze how purposefully and effectively these benefits are used.

When studying only 3.2 trillion soums of benefits used last year, it was found that 420 billion soums or 13% of them were used for other purposes.

Therefore, the Customs Committee has been tasked with analyzing goods imported under preferential treatment.

In general, it was emphasized that this year the Tax Committee should attract 40 trillion soums, and the Customs Committee - at least 15 trillion soums of additional funds to the budget.
