The convention was signed in Kishinev in November last year by the heads of government of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. It is aimed at realizing the principle of equal attitude toward labour migrants and citizens of the receiving state in everything that is connected with working and living conditions.
According to the convention, labour migrants enjoy the same rights as citizens of the receiving state: for safe working conditions, equal remuneration of labour, social insurance, compensation for the damage to life and health as a result of an accident.
Labour migrants can be deported only on the grounds stated in international treaties. They, as citizens of the receiving side, have the right for general and additional professional education, reads the convention.
