Belarus to observe parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus will observe the elections to the lower chamber of the parliament of Uzbekistan, scheduled for 21 December, BelTA reported quoting CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik.

He said that the Central Election Commission of Belarus received invitation from the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.

Nikolai Lozovik said that the Central Election Commission of Belarus will send two specialists to Uzbekistan - Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Vadim Ipatov and CEC member Vasily Bushchik.

Uzbekistan introduced a bicameral parliament in 2005. The Legislative (lower) Chamber has 150 deputies elected from four political parties and the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan in December 2009 for five years.

The Senate (upper chamber) has 100 members, 84 elected from the regions, from Karakalpakstan, the capital, Tashkent. The President of Uzbekistan appoints other 16 people.
