Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During a recent plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction Behzod Musaev provided an update on the progress of the program aimed at creating new jobs and facilitating employment in 2024.

The discussion highlighted that over the past seven years, the country has adopted 5 laws, 1 code, and more than 30 presidential decrees and resolutions to strengthen the legal framework for employment reforms and significantly improve the sector.

The "Employment" law and the new edition of the Labor Code have established a legal foundation for implementing modern professional and labor standards, as well as for ensuring internationally recognized labor relations and protecting the interests of both employers and employees.

The President of the country places special emphasis on employment issues, increasing income levels, and poverty reduction, as well as improving the legal framework in these areas.

Musaev reported that in the first half of 2024, work began on models implemented in the "Saykhunabad," "Uychi," "Gijduvan," and "Zarbdor" districts. More than 4,000 mahallas were specialized in industry and agriculture, resulting in official employment for 1.6 million people. By the end of the year, based on this experience, it is planned to provide jobs for 2.416 million people.

Additionally, the electronic platform "yangiish.mehnat.uz" was launched, integrated into the databases of relevant ministries and departments, for real-time monitoring of job creation and employment. Thanks to this platform, 2.9 million people secured permanent, seasonal, and temporary jobs in the first half of 2024.

It was also noted that in the first six months of 2024, 415,000 unemployed citizens approached employment offices, with 368,400 receiving job placement assistance. Furthermore, 26,700 requests for public work from 8,100 enterprises and organizations led to the engagement of 55,600 unemployed individuals in paid activities.

Under the employment assistance program for people with disabilities, 11,800 out of the planned 16,200 individuals were employed during this period.

While acknowledging the results achieved, deputies pointed out the insufficient role of labor agencies in providing employment for citizens returning from abroad.

It was suggested to intensify efforts to employ individuals in need of social protection and those facing difficulties in the labor market, as well as citizens returning from abroad.

Following the meeting, Behzod Musaev’s report was acknowledged, and it was decided to ensure effective parliamentary oversight on this issue.
