Behzod Abduraimov to be featured in Park University String Orchestra Concert
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Pianist Behzod Abduraimov, grand prize winner at the 2009 London International Piano Competition, and a Park University senior applied music/piano major from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, will be featured in the University's International Center for Music String Orchestra concert on Saturday, 26 February.

The concert, which will be conducted by Amir Shiff, conductor of the Pacific Encore Opera Co., will be held at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University's Parkville Campus.

The ICM String Orchestra will perform "Serenade for Strings in C Major, op. 48," followed by Abduraimov as the featured performer in "Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor, op. 21," accompanied by the ICM String Orchestra and guest musicians.

At the age of 18, Abduraimov achieved a sensational victory in the 2009 London International Piano Competition as he was awarded first prize following an electrifying performance of Prokofiev's "Piano Concerto No. 3." This resulted in invitations to work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (performing Tchaikovsky's "Piano Concerto No. 1") and the London Philharmonic Orchestra (playing Saint-Saens' "Piano Concerto No. 2"). During 2009-10, Abduraimov toured in China and Malaysia with the Sydney Symphony under Vladimir Ashkenazy to great critical acclaim, and they collaborated again as part of the 2010 Musikfest Bremen. Abduraimov also just signed with the Decca Classics record label.
