The FTTB project was launched in spring 2009. During a year, about 4,200 ports were installed and 30 km optic-fiber cable was laid in almost all houses in the city. This is the second local data-transfer system, which ensures access to Internet through optic-fiber cable at the speed of 100 megabit per second.
Andrei Safronyuk, Unitel director-general, said: “Regional optic-fiber network of Beeline is a good example of integrated operator, which is raising population’s life quality. Unique technology will allow to ensure remote areas of Uzbekistan with high-speed Internet on affordable tariffs. I am sure that positive experience in Zarafshan and Uchkuduk will help to speed FTTB construction in other cities of Uzbekistan.”
FTTB network will ensure users to access Internet and allow users to exchange traffic among connected houses for free. FTTB technology allows connect to network via optic-fiber cable, which does not require telephone line and modems, or other equipment.
Connection to FTTB network connects computers in various flats and cities to single group for active exchange of information, files and play games.
Beeline completed construction of optic-fiber network in Zarafshan in June 2009. Currently, it is the largest local data transfer network in Uzbekistan.
