Vimpelcom Ltd (Beeline trademark), one of largest international telecommunication service providers, announced its financial results in the third quarter of 2012 on 14 November.
Net operation revenue of Beeline in Uzbekistan made up US$137 million in the third quarter of 2012, which rose by 88% year-on-year (from US$73 million).
EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) in Uzbekistan grew by 123% year-on-year from US$35 million in the third quarter of 2011 to US$77 million in the third quarter of 2012. EBITDA margin rose by 8.9 percentage points to 56.2% in the reporting period. Subscriber base grew by 2.198 million users or 31% year-on-year in July-September 2012. Number of mobile users of Beeline in Uzbekistan reached 9.229 million in the third quarter of 2012.
ARPU (Monthly Average Revenue per User) made up US$5 in the third quarter of 2012, or grew by 26% year-on-year. MOU (Monthly Average Minutes of Use per User) grew by 25% from 433 minutes in the third quarter of 2011 to 543 minutes in the third quarter of 2012.
Director-General of Unitel Andrei Safronyuk said that the company faced serious challenges in the third quarter due to sharp growth of subscribers’ base by 2.198 million. He said that the company invested over US$20 million to development of its network. He added that Beeline is working on commissioning of new basis and soon subscribers will feel positive changes.
