Bazar-Art/2012 to kick off on Saturday
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Wide-scale project of Fund Forum and "IJOD" Association of artists, art critics and craftsmen of Uzbekistan – exhibition-fair Bazar-Art – will be held for the eleventh time at the Center for national art in Tashkent on 24-26 November 2012.

Around 150 craftsmen and women from all over Uzbekistan will bring a wealth of handmade items and clothing to the event. The three-day event will offer a kaleidoscopic variety of exquisite creations echoing the unique cultural legacy of Uzbekistan, and will include workshops.

The exhibition will be closed on 26 November 2012, and Chairperson of Trustee Council of Fund Forum and project author Gulnara Karimova will hand over grants to craftsmen and award laureates.

Bazar-Art is one of the vivid events in cultural life of the capital, which takes place in the Center of National Arts of the Fund Forum twice a year. The exhibition gathers the best masters of an applied art from all parts of the country, among them are representatives of artists’ families and young craftsmen. The project aimed at discovering the creative potential in modern applied arts, introducing wide public with the most interesting trends in this field, supporting creative dynasties and talented craftsmen as well as preserving and enhancing of national heritage.

Moreover, during the three-day fair the participants, specialists and everyone with an interest in traditional art will have the opportunity to attend workshops to be led by Uzbek masters representing various traditional crafts:

24 November, 12 am – traditional Bukhara embroidery workshop by masters Z. Karimov, F.Narziyeva and Z. Abloberdiyev;
24 November, 3 pm – artistic wood painting workshop by masters A. Malikov and M. Mirsagatov;
25 November, 12 am – Gurumsarai ceramics workshop by master V. Buvayev;
25 November, 3 pm – woodcarving workshop by master S. Rahmatullayev and his apprentices;
26 November, 12 am – national doll making workshop by master Nasiba Ahmedova.

Bazar-Art has been held twice a year – in spring and autumn – since 2007. The event is attended by about 150 craftsmen from all regions of Uzbekistan.

Within the project, craftsmen receive grants to develop applied art. Since 2007, six grants for 24 million soums were handed over.
