Sports 06/09/2008 Barça seal multi-million euro Uzbek deal
The incredible figure was put forward and the Blaugrana are likely to play Rivaldo’s new team, Kuruvchi, in a game that will promote football in the Asian country.

It is believed that May has been pencilled in as the month for the encounter, but that will be changed if Barça reach the final of the Champions League.

An agreement has been reached and, according to reports, Barcelona have already been paid 3 million euros up front and will receive another 2 million euros when the game is played.

The Catalan outfit could not turn down the offer given that it will be one of their highest earning trips ever, eclipsing all the pre-season tours that they have undertaken.

During the summer the club travelled to the United States to play a couple of friendlies and received 2 million euros, while that amount was also on offer for a cancelled friendly in Saudi Arabia recently.

Barça created links in Uzbeikstan recently and several players visited the country to promote it, including Carles Puyol and Samuel Eto’o, who was rumoured to have been offered a chance to play there.

While the Cameroonian international turned down the invitation, former Blaugrana hero Rivaldo has taken up the challenge and is due to make millions.
