Banks of Uzbekistan to introduce remote user identification system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan intends to introduce a system of remote user identification for remote management of bank accounts. This is stated in the review the development of remote banking systems, published on the website of the Central Bank.

The document said that the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications (Mininfocom) plans to introduce personal identification numbers of individuals (PIN FL) for the implementation of this project.

PIN FL will be used to access the services of financial institutions through mobile applications. This will save customers from having to visit the bank in order to confirm their identity.

The launch of this mechanism will simplify banking services and ensure maintenance of the required level of control over operations.

Using the system of the single remote identification mechanism, the client will not need to re-submit data to financial institutions when applying for various financial services.

In 2018, it is planned to modernize the National Information Database of Bank Depositors (NIBBD) to register individuals and assign the unique codes to them.

At present, Uzbekistan banks have issued about 19.3 million banking cards. For the first 10 months of 2017, they carried out operations for 36.9 trillion soums. Over 3.7 million cardholders use mobile application systems.

To further develop online banking in the country and full coverage of bank card holders by all commercial banks, there are plans for introducing mobile banking for individuals.

At the same time, to expand the services of mobile applications with the ability to remotely manage bank accounts, on the basis of the Clearing System, the Central Bank started to test payment mechanisms from card to card, issuance and repayment of loans, online deposits, online payments for the benefit of traders and service providers.

With introduction of this mechanism, it is planned to introduce the single platform, which allows the banks customers to make transactions on their bank accounts in different banks in 24x7 mode without a break for weekends and holidays.

Currently, through the Central Bank’s Clearing System, customers of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity, Ipoteka Bank, Uzpromstroybank, Ipak Yuli Bank, Hamkorbank, Qishloq Qurilish Bank, Turonbank, Turkistonbank have the opportunity to make p2p payments, and this list is constantly expanding.

It is also expected that, within the framework of the expansion of the infrastructure for accepting non-cash payments in 2018, the implementation of mechanisms for the use of contactless methods of accepting payments using mobile applications using QR-code and NFC.

These technologies can be useful in organization of trade in markets, external fairs and outside premises, etc.

In turn, remote identification will allow banks to reduce the cost of attracting new customers and will help increase competition in the financial market.
