Banks in Namangan develop cashless payment system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Banks in Namangan region are planning to install 6,560 POS-terminals and issue 620,533 banking payment cards by the end of 2010.

Head of Namangan regional department of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said that the figures have been executed for over a half.

Currently, number of issued banking payment cards reached 382,048, which rose by 63,416 cards compared to early 2010. Number of installed terminals in places made up 3,387 units, UzA reported.

POS-terminals were installed at trade points, banks, saving offices, mini banks, fuel stations and other service rendering points. Over 67% business entities, which should be equipped with POS-terminals, already installed this equipment.

As of 1 August 2010, over 190 billion soums were transferred to issued banking payment cards, which is up by 56.3 billion soums compared early 2010.
