Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It is known that from 1 July 2020, banknotes with a face value of 200 soums of the 1997 design and banknotes of 500 soums of the 1999 design have lost their validity as legal tender (according to the regulation of the Ministry of Justice, reg. from 19 May 2018).

In order to create convenience for the population and business entities in the quarantine conditions announced in connection with the coronavirus pandemic in the republic, as an exception, all branches of commercial banks (including banking service offices, cash desks of mini-banks and other non-bank operating cash desks) will freely accept banknotes of 200 and 500 soums of the old model until 1 September 2020.

In this regard, we remind you once again that if you have old-style 200 and 500 soum banknotes, you can exchange them at the cash desks of all branches of commercial banks until 29 August 2020 (the last banking business day of August), and after 1 September 2020 in the Settlement and Cash Centers of the Main Territorial Departments of the Central Bank for banknotes in circulation in the prescribed manner.
