Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 October 2019, a regular meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic). This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The event was attended by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS Member States, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Army General Sergey Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus Lieutenant General Andrei Ravkov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Major General Nurlan Yermekbayev , Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Bahodir Kurbanov, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General Mirzo Sherali, Chief of the General Major General Rayimberdi Duishenbiev, the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic. From the CIS Executive Committee, the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev participated in the meeting of the CIS CMO.

Speaking to the audience, Sergey Lebedev emphasized: “The principled position on the need to strengthen security cooperation was again convincingly reaffirmed at the meetings of the Council of Heads of State on October 11 in Ashgabat and the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on 25 October in Moscow, chaired by Turkmenistan. At a meeting on 11 October, CIS heads of state signed an Appeal to the peoples of the Commonwealth and the world community on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. During the summit, the heads of state paid special attention to the discussion of security issues.

At a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on 25 October in Moscow, issues of ensuring military security were also reflected on the agenda and agreed decisions were adopted on them. These include: “An Information Security Strategy”, “On the continuation of the search for military personnel missing in Afghanistan from 1979-1989 in 2020–2024 ...” and “On the allocation of appropriations for the creation and development of a unified air defense system of the participating states” CIS in 2020. "

The key attention at the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers was paid to the Concept of Military Cooperation of the CIS Member States until 2025. They discussed issues of training officers for the armed forces of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, on joint activities for the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, and other important areas in the field of military cooperation.

During the joint work, the heads of defense departments outlined joint activities for the next year and the near future, examined issues of partnership interaction in the field of defense and security in the CIS.
