Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Aziza Yakubova, representing Uzbekistan at the ending world championship in Turkey in the weight category up to 50 kg, held a semifinal bout.
Our compatriot entered the ring against Ingrit Valencia from Colombia in the 1/2 finals, which has just ended. In a tense and uncompromising meeting, Yakubova lost to her eminent rival. Thus, she won the bronze of the Women’s World Boxing Championship.
Aziza Yakubova went down in history as the first Uzbek athlete to reach the semi-finals in women's boxing. In other bout, another of our compatriot Mohira Abdullayeva also won the bronze medal.
At the 2021 World Youth Championship in Poland, Nigina Uktamova won a gold medal and went down in history as the first Uzbek athlete to win the World Championship among girls.
