Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Supreme Court provided additional details of the case in which former Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov was taken into custody.
A criminal case has been initiated under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Article 167 (theft by embezzlement or embezzlement on an especially large scale), suggesting possible punishment in the form of a fine from 300 to 600 sizes of basic estimated value, correctional labor for up to 3 years, or imprisonment from 5 to 10 years.
A charge has also been brought under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 (abuse of power or official authority causing especially large damage), with possible punishment in the form of a fine from 300 to 600 sizes of basic estimated value, restriction of freedom from 2 to 5 years or imprisonment up to 5 years with deprivation of certain rights.
The Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan appealed to the Yashnabad District Court with a request to choose a preventive measure for Aziz Voitov.
On 14 December, the Yashnabad District Court granted the request and decided to place Aziz Voitov in custody in a pre-trial detention center.
