The presidents first had a one-to-one meeting and then a meeting with the participation of delegations.
The talks between the Azerbaijani and Uzbek presidents ended with the signing of eight intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements.
Specifically, agreements were signed on cooperation in the field of environmental protection, information and communication technologies, development of railway transport and combined transport, protection of secret information, tax, as well as in the humanitarian sphere, trade and economic, and scientific and technical fields.
Speaking to journalists, the presidents expressed their satisfaction with the results of the talks. Aliyev said that the sides "have supported and will continue to support each other’s positions in international organizations". "Baku and Tashkent have a lot in common in their assessment of the situation in the Caucasus and Caspian regions," he said.
For his part, Karimov spoke in favour of a peaceful settlement to the Karabakh conflict on the basis of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov arrived in Azerbaijan for two-day official visit on the invitation of this country’s President Ilkham Aliyev.
