The exhibition will present 60 samples of Azerbaijani carpets from the collection of the State Museum of Azerbaijani carpets and National Applied Arts in Baku. The event will also present photos and reels, dedicated to carpet production in Azerbaijan.
Carpet art of Azerbaijan started to develop in the Bronze Age and the carpet became one of important objects in the life of Azerbaijani nations. Azerbaijan has own schools of carpet making and they helped to develop and enrich each other. There are seven popular carpet schools.
The State Museum of Azerbaijani carpets and National Applied Arts was founded in 1967 in Baku to preserve rich heritage on carpet production in the country.
Azerbaijan’s carpets included to collections of the Hermitage (Saint Petersburg), Louvre in Paris, Topkapi in Istanbul, etc.
