The draft resolution acknowledges huge opportunities, which Internet provides, and offers measures to overcome “digital divide”. The resolution welcomes establishment of the Trans-Eurasian Information Superhighway and readiness of Azerbaijan to coordinate regional efforts on its implementation.
Over 20 counties acted as the co-authors of the resolution, including Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The document says that information and communication technologies can help accelerate economic growth, improve competitiveness, access to information and knowledge.
