Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Azerbaijani airline Azal is starting flights to Samarkand. The first flight on the Baku-Samarkand route is scheduled for 5 October.

It is planned that regular flights will be carried out twice a week on Airbus A320 aircraft: on Tuesdays and Fridays.

A solemn meeting of the first flight is planned at the Samarkand International Airport with the participation of representatives of the khokimiyat, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Airports, Air Marakanda and Azal airlines.

Established in 1992, Azerbaijan Airlines (Azal) is a major air carrier and one of the leaders in the aviation community of the CIS countries with a modern fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. It should be noted that Samarkand will become the second city in Uzbekistan where the Azerbaijani air carrier will fly. Flights from Baku to Tashkent are made on a regular basis on Thursdays and Sundays.
