Automotive market of Uzbekistan - CERR overview

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR) each month analyzes the situation in the automobile market of Uzbekistan.

In March, there was a slight decline in car sales. Thus, the decline is estimated at 0.1%. In total, 123,400 vehicles were sold during the month, which is 115 units less than a month earlier.

At the same time, in relation to the same period last year, sales growth by 10% was noted.

The situation in the primary and secondary car market

Sales of passenger cars in March decreased by 4.7% and amounted to 110,800 units.

The largest decline in the republic was noted in Navoi - by 22%, Bukhara - 19% and Kashkadarya regions - 18%.

At the same time, compared to March 2022, passenger car sales increased by 7.8%.

In general, according to the results of the first quarter of this year, 345.400 cars were sold, with an annual growth of 8.5%.

Sales of passenger cars in the primary market for the month decreased by 10%. Compared to March 2022, the decline in the primary market was 16%.

At the same time, sales of new passenger cars of domestic production amounted to 18,400, having decreased by 13.8%.

The decrease in sales in the secondary car market again turned out to be less noticeable than in the primary one.

During the month, 89,000 used cars were sold, which is 3.3% less than a month earlier. Compared to the same period last year, sales of this category of vehicles increased by 16%.

The market for passenger cars

The sales of new passenger cars of foreign production increased noticeably. Thus, over the month the number of transactions increased by 25% and amounted to 2,900. At the same time, the growth compared to March last year was 2.2 times.

Overview of the electric vehicle market

Activity in the electric vehicle market has increased significantly over the month. While sales in the primary market increased by 34%, the secondary market showed an increase of 24%.

In general, in the first quarter of 2023, 2,200 passenger electric vehicles were sold with an annual growth of 2 times.
