ATMs installed without authorization being dismantled in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, efforts are underway to identify and dismantle ATMs installed without proper authorization. This was announced by Deputy Director of the Cadastre Agency Mirsayd Mirmaksudov at a press conference on 24 March.
According to him, the agency, in collaboration with the Central Bank, regularly conducts activities to monitor the legality of ATM installations. While specific data on the number of dismantled devices was not disclosed, Mirmaksudov emphasized that the work is ongoing on a permanent basis.
The agency's press secretary, Neymatjon Atamuratov, added that land supervision is one of the key tasks of the agency. In 2024, more than 66,000 violations of land legislation were recorded, including cases related to the illegal installation of ATMs.
As of 1 March, Uzbekistan had 32,265 ATMs and information kiosks. Of these, 15,855 belong to payment organizations (such as Paynet, Oson, and others), 500 are owned by the "UzInkasatsiya" association, and the rest by commercial banks. The National Bank leads in the number of ATMs with 3,064 devices, followed by Agrobank with 2,166, and Kapitalbank with 1,481.
The Cadastre Agency stated that the work to identify and dismantle illegal installations will continue.
