At least 13 people killed by powerful earthquake in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Authorities of Uzbekistan said that 13 people have been killed in a powerful earthquake, which was registered at 00:35 Tashkent time on 20 July 2011.

According to the Emergency Ministry of Uzbekistan, the earthquake damaged some buildings in Rishtan, Bagdad and Uzbekistan districts of Ferghana region, eastern Uzbekistan.

As a result, 13 people died, and 86 were provided with emergency medical aid, while 35 of them were hospitalized.

In line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, the government is undertaking timely measures to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake and provide required help to the affected.

The Uzbek Government expressed condolences to the members of the families and relatives of the earthquake victims.

As reported earlier, the strong earthquake has been registered in Uzbekistan at 00:35 Tashkent time on 20 July 2011 with the epicenter in neighbouring Kyrgyz Republic.

Tashkent Seismic station said that magnitude of earthquake in the Uzbek capital, Ferghana and Namangan made up 4.5-5, Termez - 4 and Samarkand - 3.

The epicenter of earthquake was in Kyrgyz Republic, 227 km to south east from Tashkent, 43 km from Ferghana, 60 km from Qoqand and 98 km from Namangan and its magnitude was 6.5-7.
