Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, a presentation titled "Sustainable Water Resources: Innovations and Technologies" was held at the Uzbekistan pavilion.
Organized by the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the event brought together Barbara Yanush-Pavletta, Regional Director of the International Water Resources Institute, Serik Bekmaganbetov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, Dinara Ziganchina, Director of the Scientific and Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia, V. Sokolov, Head of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea Agency, and Ulukbek Bayaliyev, Deputy Director of the Water Resources Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.
T. Butunbaev, First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, shared insights on reforms in the water sector initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He emphasized the increased efficiency of transboundary river water use through cooperation with neighboring countries.
The presentation also covered the topics of channel concreting, expanded use of water-saving technologies, and the digitalization of the water sector in Uzbekistan.
