Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 June, in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Chairman of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality M. Kadirkhanova held a meeting with an expert on the prevention of torture and gender-based violence of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights D. Aitkhozhina.

Issues of further improving national legislation in the field of supporting women, protecting their rights and interests, preventing torture and combating gender equality, conducting research and negotiations with relevant organizations and departments in this direction were discussed.

It was especially emphasized that the experience of Uzbekistan in ensuring gender equality, empowering women in all spheres is being studied by many countries and is of interest.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish close cooperation on the issues discussed.
