Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan continues cooperation with the Assouline publishing house. In early 2024, the book Silk & Gold: The Magnificent Art of Costume was released, dedicated to the rich heritage of 19th-century textile craftsmanship in Uzbekistan.
Readers will be able to explore the historical costumes and traditional patterns of Uzbekistan, the influence of the Great Silk Road on the development of textile craftsmanship in Uzbekistan, and learn about the constant creative exchange between artisans and the world.
The book introduces various types of works of art, such as gold-embroidered chapans, tapestries, ikat silk and jewelry. All of these works of art carry deep meaning and use traditional techniques that have been passed down from masters to their students over the centuries.
Over the years, several books have been published in cooperation between the Art and Culture Development Foundation and Assouline Publishing: “Uzbekistan. Road to Samarkand", Uzbekistan Living Treasures: Celebration of Craftsmanship, Avant-Garde Orientlists and Russian Avant-garde.
The books are dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage, architectural and natural landscape of Uzbekistan, decorative and applied arts and modern artisans of Uzbekistan, the avant-garde heritage of Igor Vitalievich Savitsky.
The books are published on the initiative of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the author Yaffa Assouline and the world-famous photographer Laziz Hamani.
The publication is available in hard silk cover in English.
