Assomac: US$1.5 million to be allocated to the leather industry of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbek leather and footwear enterprises takes part in international exhibitions held in Milan, Italy.

In particular, at the International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Leather Processing and Footwear Industry - SIMAC (TANNING-TECH) 2023, Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association Fakhriddin Boboev held negotiations with Roberto Vago, Managing Director of the National Association of Footwear Manufacturers, Leather Goods and Tanning Technologies of Italy ASSOMAC.

At the meeting, the parties discussed Uzbekistan’s entry into the international arena. Italian partners expressed their readiness to allocate US$1.5 million to create a technology center in the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan. The center will be engaged in the production and maintenance of equipment for the leather and textile industries.

Today, reforms and the dynamics of production development in the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan do not go unnoticed by representatives of European companies. Italian brands are expressing interest in launching new projects together with Uzbek colleagues. The technology center being created will provide assistance in their implementation.

Also, during meetings held between the Uzcharmsanoat association and the Federal Association of the German Footwear and Leather Industry, an agreement was reached to develop a special program to attract German brands to our country.

As the German side noted, major EU brands are now looking for reliable partners. For this reason, a delegation of six largest German companies will visit Uzbekistan in October. During the visit, it is planned to get acquainted with production processes and sign cooperation agreements with local enterprises. It is also expected that German partners will take part in the UzcharmExpo-Eurasia-2023 exhibition, which will be held on 18-20 October, and will negotiate the possibility of cooperation based on industrial outsourcing.

The Italian brand Aldo Brué intends to launch its production in our country. Based on an investment agreement, it is planned to produce premium footwear at the new enterprise.

Many agreements have also been reached regarding the implementation of international standards and digitalization of production.
