Assets of Uzbek banks exceed 44.1 trln. soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Aggregate capital of commercial banks of Uzbekistan made up 6.5 trillion soums as of 1 April 2014, the Board of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said in its meeting dedicated to the results of the first quarter of 2014.

Currently, the capital adequacy of the banking system of Uzbekistan makes up 24.3%, which is three times higher to set requirements of the Basel Committee on international banking supervision (8%).

The level of current liquidity, which one of key factors of assessment of the banking system’s sustainability, exceeded 65%, which is twice higher compared to the set minimal limit by the Basel Committee (30%).

Aggregate assets of the commercial banks rose by 29% year-on-year in the first three months of 2014 and reached over 44.1 trillion soums.

The volume of loans directed to real sector of economy rose by 31.2% year-on-year in the first three months of 2014 and made up 26.8 trillion soums, the session said.

The investment loans increased by 1.2 times year-on-year in the reporting period and as of 1 April 2014 was 2.1 trillion soums.

The volume of loans, issued to small businesses, jumped 1.3 times in the reporting period and as of 1 April 2014 reached 2.1 trillion soums. The microloans made up 444.2 billion soums, which rose by 1.3 times year-on-year.

The commercial banks allocated over 240 billion soums to support entrepreneurship activities of women, which increased by 1.8 times year-on-year.

The banks also pay attention to support graduates of colleges and finance their business projects. So, in the first quarter of 2014, loans for 26.8 billion were issued to this direction, which rose 1.6 times year-on-year.

The volume of deposits increased by 30.5% year-on-year in the first three months of 2014 and reached over 26.2 trillion soums.

The share of the banks in total financial services made up 88% in the first quarter of 2014 and it grew by 1.3 times year-on-year.

The commercial banks allocated over 11.5 million banking payment cards and installed 134,615 unitsof POS-terminals.
