ASR develops proposals for developing the potential of the Pskent district

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, Pskent district has significant potential for the development of agriculture and other sectors of the economy. As part of the studies conducted by employees of the Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR), key “growth points” of the region were identified, and issues that needed to be addressed were identified.

Currently, the main production sector of the region is agriculture, specializing in the cultivation of cotton (25 thousand tons), wheat (40 thousand tons), vegetables (potatoes - 27 thousand tons), grapes, strawberries and livestock. There is also a high potential for the development of fisheries.

However, despite significant volumes of agricultural production (30,454 tons), there are no enterprises in the region capable of storing, processing and selling products at acceptable market prices. This results in loss of potential income and limits the development of the agricultural sector.

To solve this problem, ASR employees, together with representatives of the local khokimiyat, developed a proposal for the creation of a Reception Center, which would provide a guaranteed market for agricultural products grown by the population. The center will be equipped with the necessary equipment for storing, sorting, calibrating and packaging at least 1000 tons of products, and will also provide the ability to prepare products for export or the domestic market.

This proposal envisages the allocation of preferential financing for the formation of working capital for the purpose of centralized purchase of agricultural products from the population (5-10 billion soums for a period of 5-7 years with a two-year grace period).

As a result, favorable conditions will be created to ensure stable demand for grown agricultural products and reduce transportation costs. As a result of the implementation of this initiative, it is expected that 195 new jobs will be created and additional tax revenues will be generated in the amount of 9 billion soums.

Pskent district has a favorable investment climate for tourism development. In this regard, it is proposed to implement tourism projects on 9.8 hectares of undeveloped land, which includes a former recreation center located next to the Tuyabugiz reservoir (Tashkent Sea).

In addition, there is huge untapped potential in the development of roadside infrastructure and services along the international highway A-373 Ohangaron - Gulistan. As part of the developed proposal, a change in the category of agricultural land on a plot of 15.4 hectares near 90-120 km of the international highway passing through Pskent district is considered, and their listing on the auction portal E-AUKSION.UZ at discounted prices.

It is also planned to organize service facilities, logistics, car services, catering and other services in the specified area.

The implementation of this proposal will create new jobs for 300 residents of the area, promote the development of small businesses and provide amenities for passengers.

As a result of the analysis and identification of the potential of the Pskent district, it became obvious that this territory has every opportunity for significant development.

Specialization in agriculture, high fishing potential and a favorable investment climate for tourism allow to consider the area as a promising direction for economic development and improving the living standards of the population.

The proposed measures, such as the efficient use of public lands, the organization of a marketing center for agricultural products and the development of tourism infrastructure, will help create new jobs, improve the living conditions of the local population and increase the economic potential of the area.
