Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 September, as part of a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov and the head of the State Chancellery of the Senate of Hamburg Corinna Nienstedt.

The meeting was also attended by Stefan Mirko, Chairman of the Eastern Europe Committee of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

During the meeting, various aspects of Uzbek-German trade, economic and investment interaction were discussed.

In particular, the Uzbek side proposed to organize a number of events as part of the “Birthday of the Port of Hamburg”, which will be held on 9-12 May 2024, in order to demonstrate the potential of various industries of Uzbekistan.

The port’s birthday is an official public holiday, one of the largest holidays and maritime festivals. It is held annually in May at numerous venues in Hamburg and attracts over two million spectators. In 2024, the port will celebrate its 835th year of foundation.

The meeting participants noted that such large-scale international events play an important role in the further expansion of business ties, the development of bilateral trade, identifying prospects and opportunities for promoting joint investment projects and initiatives, as well as strengthening ties between the business communities of both countries.
