Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Asaka Motors plans to establish the production of Hyundai cars at its plant in the Syrdarya region, according to the press service of the regional administration.

The company has reached an agreement with the South Korean automotive giant to launch production of vehicles under its brand in Uzbekistan.

The project will be implemented in two stages.

The first stage will involve the assembly of sedans Elantra and Sonata, crossovers Palisade, Santa Fe, and Tucson, as well as the minivan Staria.

The process is planned to commence in May of this year.

By the end of the year, Asaka Motors intends to complete the development of welding, painting, and advanced assembly processes. The company also aims to localize the production of components for Hyundai vehicles.

A special cluster will be established near the plant for the production of parts. This will reduce the delivery time of components and associated costs.

It is worth noting that in May 2023, Asaka Motors launched an assembly workshop for the Exeed brand.
