Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8-9 November, the sixteenth summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is being held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The event is expected to be attended by leaders of states and governments of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkiye.

At the summit it is planned to discuss issues of further expansion of trade, economic, investment, transport, communications and humanitarian cooperation within the ECO, as well as improving the activities of this structure.

As part of a large-scale international event, the 5th ECO Business Forum and meetings in B2B and B2G formats were held. 

Chairman of the Uzchamrsanoat Association Fakhriddin Boboev also took part in events aimed at establishing trade and economic relations within the Economic Cooperation Organization. At the presentation, the head of the organization noted the growth of the leather and footwear industry in Uzbekistan. 

In particular, it was said that over the past six years, shoe production alone has increased almost 25 times. And the leather and footwear industry has become one of the driving directions in the industry and economy of the country.

“The basis for such rapid growth is the full support of the industry from the state. Enterprises in the leather and footwear industry enjoy a whole package of customs and tax benefits and preferences. All this increases the attractiveness of the industry for foreign and domestic investors,” was said during the business forum.
