Around 80 kg of Drugs Seized in Uzbekistan, Smuggled from Russia, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region, servicemen of the Border Troops, together with the State Security Service (SSS) Directorate and regional police officers, detained two local residents born in 2005 and 2006 while attempting to smuggle 20.374 kg of opium and 41.668 kg of hashish from Tajikistan. During the investigation, their accomplice, born in 2004, and the organizer from Denau district, born in 2000, were also apprehended.
In Tashkent region, Border Troops personnel, in cooperation with the SSS Directorate and the regional customs office, inspected the luggage of a resident of Tashlak district in Fergana region, born in 1991, arriving from Kazakhstan. Authorities discovered 7.902 kg of the synthetic drug “Mephedrone” hidden inside a marble slab. The drugs had been obtained through a Telegram bot from Moscow and were intended for delivery to a buyer in Uzbekistan. In the Urtachirchik district, the recipient, a resident of Bekabad district born in 1985, was arrested.
In Fergana and Surkhandarya regions, SSS officers disrupted the activities of individuals purchasing drugs from Afghan traffickers. A resident of Kokand, born in 1964, and her son, born in 1993 and previously convicted for drug trafficking, were detained. Authorities seized 5.878 kg of opium and 3.922 kg of hashish imported from Afghanistan.
In total, the illegal circulation of 79.744 kg of drugs smuggled from abroad was stopped.
All those detained have been charged under Articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code and placed in custody. Investigative actions are ongoing.
