Areas of cooperation with the Joint Vienna Institute were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 September, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Deputy Minister Gulnora Rakhimova and Director of the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) Hervé Joly.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Training Center for Training and Retraining of Employees of Financial Authorities and Financial and Accounting Divisions of Budgetary Organizations under the Ministry of Economy and Finance Iroda Khamidova, the Director of the Department for Cooperation with Foreign States and International Organizations, Work with International Ratings Shukhrat Matkarimov, as well as the Director of the International Monetary Fund in Almaty Norbert Funke.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Gulnora Rakhimova informed the guests about the reforms being carried out in the country, emphasizing the importance of the fact that ministry employees are undergoing JVI courses as part of these reforms.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 30 employees of the central office of the ministry have completed various courses organized at JVI. It should be noted that the relevant order of the Ministry of Economy and Finance established that employees who have undergone advanced training abroad, in order to exchange experience with colleagues, conduct presentations for them at the end of the courses.

A proposal was discussed to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Training Center for the training and retraining of employees of financial authorities and financial and accounting departments of budgetary organizations under the ministry in order to organize advanced training courses for employees of territorial administration. It was proposed to introduce courses on topics such as sustainable development, fiscal risks, digitalization, privatization and other areas.

JVI Director Hervé Joly, in turn, thanked for the warm welcome and noted that as a result of established cooperation with Uzbekistan, by the end of 2022, the number of Uzbek specialists who had completed training in JVI courses reached almost 6% of the total number of students. This is a large figure compared to other countries. For example, the share of more than 30 countries cooperating with JVI is 3%.

During the meeting, Iroda Khamidova told the guests in detail about the Training Center for training and retraining of employees of financial authorities and financial and accounting departments of budgetary organizations. It was separately noted that the ministry’s employees are currently undergoing advanced training not only through traditional but also through distance learning methods. It was noted that today educational areas cover budget policy, government procurement, accounting in budgetary organizations in accordance with budget accounting standards, as well as other areas.

Hervé Joly noted that as part of technical support, the JVI is expected to organize special courses for civil servants of Uzbekistan next week. This, in turn, helps to enhance the exchange of knowledge and experience between specialists.

At the end of the discussion, the guests visited the Training Center at the Ministry, where they got acquainted with the material and technical base of the center, the educational process, training programs and conditions created for students. Agreements were also reached to intensify cooperation in a number of priority areas for both sides.
