Architect from Uzbekistan: Chinese vaccine protects me and my parents from coronavirus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- “Don’t worry, we have already been vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine,” 55-year-old Guzal Irgasheva said this good news to her son Rustam Irgashev, who works and lives in China, via video link, Xinhua news agency reported.

Rustam, 34, is from Uzbekistan. He has been an architect for seven years at the Chongqing Design Research Company of the China Coal Technology and Engineering Group in Chongqing, southwest China. After the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, he decided to stay here.

How does your son live in China? How does he protect himself from the coronavirus? What measures are taken to prevent and control the epidemic in China? Many of these questions concern Rustam’s parents.

“At first they were very worried about me, but they support my decision to stay in China. I told them that the epidemic is under control here and everything will be fine,” he said.

Rustam was deeply impressed by China’s epidemic prevention and control measures. He believes that it was the effective measures that allowed China to achieve success in the fight against COVID-19 in a short time.

“When we arrive at the company in the morning, workers near the office check our temperature, if we have masks, and, of course, they offer a liquid for disinfection. They are doing everything necessary to ensure the safety of their personnel,” Rustam said.

In April 2021, Chongqing began voluntary vaccination against COVID-19 for foreign citizens aged 18 to 59 years.

At the end of July this year, Rustam received the second dose of the Chinese vaccine in a hospital in the Yuzhong district of Chongqing.

“I didn’t have any bad reactions. Therefore, I offer this vaccine to friends who work here, as well as relatives and friends who live in Uzbekistan,” he said.

Due to the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the world, Rustam is especially worried about the health of his parents.

“Every day I call home in Uzbekistan to inquire about their state of health,” he said, sharing that his greatest desire is to keep all relatives and friends in good health.

In March 2021, the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine was delivered to Uzbekistan from China. As of July 2021, the Chinese biopharmaceutical company Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd / abbreviated as Zhifei Longcom / has exported about 8.51 million doses of the new recombinant COVID-19 vaccine to Uzbekistan.

Rustam’s parents have already received the first dose of the Chinese vaccine against COVID-19. “When I found out that they had already received the vaccine from China and everything was fine with them, I calmed down considerably,” he said.

Currently, cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the development and production of vaccines against COVID-19 is continuously deepening. In August of this year, a ceremony was held online to sign an agreement on cooperation in the production of a recombinant vaccine against COVID-19 between Zhifei Longcom and the Uzbek company Jurabek Laboratories JV LLC. During the event, representatives of the two companies signed an agreement on the procurement and supply of a recombinant vaccine against COVID-19.

As of 4 August 2021, China has provided 770 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to more than 100 countries and international organizations, according to Chinese official figures.

“We received from China not only a vaccine, but also protective masks and other anti-epidemic agents. Thanks to China and the Chinese people for their help,” said Guzal Irgasheva.
