Arab Coordination Group to finance projects in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Arab Coordination Group (ACG) will allocate about US$480.9 million to implementation of priority projects in Uzbekistan.

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on approval of list of projects, which are offered to implement due to resources of financial institutions of the ACG. The government also approved plan of practical measures on solving issues related on project financing by these institutions.

The list includes fifteen projects with preliminary cost of US$582.5 million, of which US$480.9 million will be issued by members of the ACG.

The final cost of projects and attracted loans will be determined after approval of technical and economic calculations and feasibility studies of the projects. The projects will be implemented in 2013-2017.

In particular, it is expected that ACG members will finance project on equipment of medical centers, medical institutions, hospitals and other healthcare establishments with modern medical and laboratory equipment.

The Group will also allocate funds to equip higher educational establishments of Uzbekistan and it is expected that the part of funds will be grants.

Due to resources of the ACG, Uzbekistan plans to introduce alternative energy sources at 632 general schools in remote areas of Uzbekistan.

The ACG will also issue financial resources to reconstruction and expansion of sewage system and water supply system in several cities and rural areas of Uzbekistan.

The ACG unites Islamic Development Bank, Saudi Fund for Development, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Fund, the OPEC Fund for International Development, and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.

On 6-7 November, Tashkent hosted a session of the ACG. Within the meeting, Uzbekistan reached agreements on attraction of resources of the ACG to finance these projects.
